Golf – Day 7

Our tee time for our final round is not until 14:30. I dragged Chris out of bed to climb to the top of St Rules Tower. A climb of 400 steps. After that, we explored a few shops for memorabilia.

Our golf trip is over! We played Carnoustie as our final round. The weather was almost perfect: gentle breeze with sunshine & a temperature of 13. This was the tie-breaking round and in an epic battle for the ages, we ended up in a tie with scores 92. Chris won the birdie contest 4-3 and gets to engrave his name on the initial Quaich cup along with drinking the exclusive whiskey that came with it.

We were paired with a father/son from Georgia. Although the son looked impressive in warm-ups, he was extremely wild & lost a lot of golf balls. They were pleasant to play with. The father hired a caddie named Dave. He helped both Chris & I with where to shoot and distances. Great guy. We gave him a tip of £20 for which he was grateful.

Finished the night off with a trip to the Dunvegan pub to soak up the pre-open atmosphere. Or just to soak up some smoke.

Overall a great golf trip even if the golf games were not always at their best.

Short post for tonight as we have to organize & pack our bags for our trip back to Edinburgh tomorrow.

If you do not hear from Chris in the next 2 days, then he must have taken a wrong turn somewhere.

  1. Barry have you seen Jamie anywhere? I want a Quaich cup too, but I do not want to gold for it. I thought they were only for weddings? Enjoy Edinburgh, super cool place…..look for Jamie!
