Golf – Day 3

Day 2

While actually still on day 2. Here are a few pictures of the Trump Turnberry resort. The hotel & golf course are undergoing major renovations with the course being closed for 8 months. The starter actually said that they play golf all year round which I did not know.

After golfing at Turnberry we drove for 30 mins to a place called Glenapp Castle only to be turned back at the gate. Only residents were allowed in. Did not even get to see the castle. All Chris’s fault.

Here are a few photos of the Marine Hotel where we are staying. It overlooks the 18th hole of Royal Troon.

For my first breakfast, I had the full Scottish hot meal which included haggis. Chris wimped out. Unfortunately, I did not take a picture but here is one from today’s breakfast. I actually liked the haggis.

Day 3

Today we did a tour to Culzean Castle which was quite impressive. Here are a few pictures.

Today we played Royal Troon and the wind was howling. First 9 holes with the wind, last nine against. Chris played well but Barry basically sucked. Barry leads 2 -1 in courses played.  A couple of last pictures as we leave to go to St Andrews tomorrow.

Just a small tidbit regarding writing this blog. Our wi-fi signal in our hotel room is very weak. The best signal strength is on the toilet seat and that is where I am creating this blog. Very handy.

Chris’s Corner

A special feature I will be introducing will be something called Chris’s Corner.

So Chris what do you have to say on your corner?

Chris: nothing

Stayed tuned for some more insightful commentary from this corner.

    • This trip is all about the ultimate golf experience. It’s about building memories that will last a lifetime. A single number cannot hope to encapsulate such feelings. Both Chris and I have such memory wrenching memories looking up at hole 18 from beneath the unscalable cliff wall that is known as a pot bunker. Err!

  1. So in other words, the numbers are too high and embarrassing to share. You go with the memories excuse but we all now the real reason. Enjoy those memories.

  2. Like the addition of Chris’ corner – very inspiring words of wisdom brought out here.
    Nice pictures!

    • I saw the documentary where Trump destroyed many Scottish homes and landscape by bringing in his golf course. He is not a nice man.

  3. Really enjoying the pictures. I hear you sent Chris home. Hope to see more beautiful scenery–the weather a little chilly?? nana
